The Perfect Storm

"Behold I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." - Isaiah 43:19

Recently the perfect storm hit Scottsville. Let me explain.

Just over a year ago Atlee merged with a church in Scottsville, where Travis and Angie Critzer were serving as the Campus Pastors. Atlee Community Church Scottsville was born. When we began this journey, we sensed God was up to something big. We've seen God at work in and through the lives of those who attend our Scottsville campus. We've seen the ministry grow, as we anticipated it would, requiring more of the staff - especially the Campus Pastor.

We also knew that sooner than later we'd have to make some changes. In addition to Travis serving in a part-time role as Campus Pastor, he's also the Owner and Director of Watermarks Camp and the Director of the Stu House. Over the past year all three ministries have experienced growth, creating the perfect storm - but in a good way!

Due to the continued growth of all three ministries, Travis and Angie cannot continue at the pace at which they've been serving. For their health and the continued success of all three ministries, they have to let something go. That something is their role as Campus Pastors.

Nelson Parker has been working with Travis to relieve some of the pressure. He's been traveling to Scottsville on Thursdays to lead a small group and on Sundays to help with the morning service.

This Sunday at our Scottsville campus, we "laid out" the latest plans. Travis will officially end his role as Campus Pastor Dec 31, 2013. Starting January 1, 2014 Trey Critzer, High School Student Director for our Mechanicsville Campus, will begin to transition into the role of full-time Campus Pastor in Scottsville. Through the month of January he will serve in both roles, becoming the full-time Campus Pastor in Scottsville in February.

As for Trey's position in Mechanicsville, Nathan Boggess, Middle School Student Director at the Mechanicsville Campus, will temporarily assume the responsibilities of both Middle and High School Director.

These are exciting opportunities for all involved! Please keep all this in your prayers as we ask God for smooth transitions.
